As the firebug website states, Firebug extension for Firefox is web development evolved! I could not agree more. If you do web development and any Ajax based solutions, you are working all wrong.

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.

It is the first extension any real web developer should install in Firefox. Nothing compares regardless of price. Don’t think you will see this kind of skillz in an IE add on. Just ain’t going to happen.

Go catch this bug now.

Firebug - Web Development Evolved

UPDATE
Thought I would add to this Joe Hewitt (Firebugs creator) video of him showing the incredible features of Firebug 1.0.

Thanks to Dion over at Ajaxian for posting this video. It should be noted that it is 48 minutes long, but some really great stuff from an incredible developer. Once you get bit by the bug there is nothing else!

First to preface this post. Thankfully I love that I live in the US and as such have certain rights. One of those is the freedom of speech. To some that means we can say and do anything we want because we are free to do so. Plus this is a long one! :)

With that said, I too can rant. Thank you founding fathers! Rosie rants on “The Wrong View” has just become too much. For me and apparently some others around the world.

On “The View’ that is suppose to talk about “balanced” views. We have:
Rosie and Joy on one side (lets, mmmmm, call them The Lefties)
On the other side:
Barbara & Elizabeth (ok, maybe we should call them The Righties)

For a talk show that is suppose to talk about both sides of the view, since every topic has a black and a white side (and maybe even some shades of gray in between) lets see what we get.

The Lefties go off hootin and hollerin, literally. Ask anyone that has watched since Rosie showed up with mouth in tow. You have to turn down the volume. I mean words a flying, yelling, screaming, Rosie trying to talk louder than Joy, Joy trying to talk louder than Rosie. A veritable hog wrestling match.

On a side note about these shout offs: I would really dislike to be the stage hand that has to wipe off the view table they all sit around. The spit from those two when they are done ranting. DANG! Honest, watch when Joy and/or Rosie starts going off… saliva goes everywhere (Tivo it and watch).

The Righties should be rebutting since this is a view from both sides right? Oh wait, Barbara just has had enough of Rosie and has given up and wants to retire. Where is the Barbara the hard hitting report? Then Elizabeth being the youngest on the show, just gets ran right down by Rosie’s size 12s.

So you get a person like Lou Dobbs coming on the show to talk politics (with some real honest discussions about middle America) and what do you get? The Lefties asking if the president should be “impeached”.

So once again everyone is entitled to their opinions, just like I get to state mine here. Sure the war is a mess and no one really likes war. Heck, we have Americans dying overseas everyday. No one refutes that and that just hurts. Sons, Daughters, Moms, Dads, Uncles and Aunts die and leave someone behind. Never good.

Whether anyone wants to realize it, our soldiers are over there fighting for our rights to freedom of speech and the rights we have as US citizens. Rosie, they are fighting for you as much as they are fighting for your neighbors rights. All too often unsung heroes.

Yes, we could all ignore The Screw, oops The View. Sure we could turn off the TV when we saw the Rosie. Sure we even have remotes to make all this stuff so easy. The problem is that you can’t drive down the road listen to your local FM or watch the channel 5 news in the evening now without hearing about Rosie and who she is criticizing today.

Between her fighting with Barbara and Trump… now she goes for the president. Lets rewind and see if she was chanting “impeach” back in the Clinton days when he was “not have sexual relations”. Bush will be leaving soon enough come next year and we will have someone else to flame for doing a crappy job.

Rosie, can you remember Clinton war efforts? Remember how well Gore and him did on foreign affairs (the political not the sexual)? Oh how soon we all forget. Oh wait Lefties don’t bad mouth Democrats and vice-a-versus, that would just be wrong.

Has anyone (other than being told to by a prompter) laughed at anything Rosie says anymore? Instead all we hear is the militant Rosie blowing. She needs to go back into hiding/retiring. I know I sighed when her show went off the air. What a sad day that was.

The View should add a disclaimer: Now with 50% old stand up comics that aren’t funny anymore.

Lastly, for someone that publicly admits that she speaks befor thinking (she thinks?), she should be tossed out to sea on a raft, with a soccer ball, painted in her own likeness. Chat away Blosie!

Final commentary:
Rosie needs to learn that just because you “were a celb”, does not mean you should spew forth. Instead of using your bullhorn (sometimes called your mouth) why don’t you take notes from a real celb that knows how to do something right and good for people around the world. I turn to Sir Bono and need say no more.

There is a article of The 5 Sins of Vista over at IntelliAdmin.

The three times (beta, RC and final) I have tried Vista it always comes down to two things for me:

  1. Has this made my tech life better? NOPE
  2. Did I lose any functionality I use everyday now? YEP

Then why the heck would I want to pay MS more money for something that just plain annoyed the hell out of me. Nope, no thanks, passing, please drive thru.

Steve did an exceptional job listing some very key points about Vista failings. Worse yet, how many years did it take MS to get to this? Personally, someone should of dumped and run years ago. Someone should of learned something from the Windows 95 & NT 4 days of OS merging and development. That was painful, this is gun to the head painful!

Last note, but isn’t pretty? Make sure you have your graphic toaster cranked up to max in your box if you expect any prettiness. You might as well take your prom date back to XP.

Mac / Linux crowd… if this is not your chance I don’t know what will be? Vista is DOA IMO.

For those poor Windows users out there that ran Microsoft’s January 2007 security and products updates that had not ventured down the IE7 path yet, it came a knocking for them.

Unless you did a custom update and unselected IE7, you gave permission for it to install Internet Explorer 7.0 on said machine. Apparently in many cases, post IE7 install, users ran into crashes, web site functionality and rendering issues. In some extreme cases, Windows machine that was completely unable to do any web browsing.

Many of the problems are usually related to ActiveX controls and custom pre-IE7 hacks in web apps that just dont work anymore in IE7 or the default “secure” IE7.

A good rundown of the fallout of IE7 can be seen over at eWeek’s – Is Internet Explorer 7 Too Locked Down for You?

These are the days that so many people remember why they love Microsoft with such adoration.

A father of a 4.5 year old daughter, I am the first to think that there are better solutions than spanking your child’s backside. However, are we at a point in the US that we actually need to impose a law that says you are going to go to jail if you spank your child. I am not talking about child abuse. Child abuse can not be accepted anywhere, yet it is around the world. That is not what we are talking about here.

I would normally ask who the parents are, you or the government. BUT… There are way too many people in the world that should NOT be parents. Then there are tons that are the best example of what a parent should be. But writing a bill is needed? Is under 3 yr spanking running rampant in Silicon Valley? Even better, Ms. Sally J. Lieber has even said that we (assuming she means the California/US/society), “We’re very addicted to violence.” That is a pretty broad statement.

You can read The New York Times article to understand Ms. Lieber plans to release next week.

This is a lady that is committed (or should be) to her purpose? Need look no further than this video from April 2006 when she decided to go homeless for several days in Silicon Valley. All in an attempt to understand the problems the homeless face and how the legislation can help them. All valiant, but begging for money for a bagel, how does that help the homeless?

How about the nice gear? I am sure every homeless in The Valley have all that gear with them. I think she forgot the shopping cart? I understand you must be a method actor/assembly woman, but I really wonder what she learned? Did she feel for them more now?

Once again, this is a person that might on the surface have those nirvana ideas. When we all step back into reality, it is these types of efforts and bills that are twisted. Instead of helping the babies to 3yr old kids from being beaten to death (literally folks), it will put a soccer mom in jail for swatting her 3 year old in the supermarket because the child was going to pickup a bottle of Drano!

As we know, every good deed does not go unpunished in our society!

Watch out Californians, the next door crack mom beating her 10 kids wont be stopped, but the upright parents sure will be. Watch out Arnold, you got some crazy people out there. :)

Here is a site set up back in 2001 to recall Sally.
