So there has always been the two side of “personal” computers: PC & Mac.
We have the now (in)famous TV ads bestowing why Mac rule and PC drool ala John Hodgman and Justin Long.
Being on the PC side of the stream, the ads have been at at best amusing/funny. However, never really made me think, “Oh I better get a mac!”
Like my daughter says, “I like having a daddy that can fix computers”. Heck who is to argue with that. If I got a mac, what would I have to fix. They never break right? No viruses right? BSD is solid as a rock!
Finally realized what I wanted when I saw the holiday ads… iRun
Do I really need iLife to have a life? Ok, well maybe since video takes forever on a PC. And they have Office on a mac so if I actually need to type a Word document or do some spreadsheets I still have good ole MS software there to solve that. Isn’t this all enough to sale me a mac?
Soapbox please.
NOPE.. it is simpler
Microsoft. Yep good ole Bill and his vista. What a beautiful view it is. NOT Flash back to the 3.1 to 95 days. Wow what a change.. for the good. XP or 2000 to Vista.. not so good.
Unless you ask for Linux on your next new PC you are going to get Vista and pay for it. Love it or leave it… Can you really ask for Linux somewhere on a new PC. snicker
Now you get your screaming power (Intel Duo 2 cores) with your OS XX.XXXX and run Windows 2000/XP with builtin Bootcamp.
If you dont like them apples, you could always run soon to be VMWare on your OS X and have any OS (Windows, Linux, Netware, etc) running without a single reboot to swap OSes on your beautiful mac-ware.
How about a little BSD with your Linux? Now that would be taking a picture in the mirror!
This might be all the reasons a PC user would need to finally say no thank you to MS.
The rub? Good ole Apple Job believes to be part of the mac-ulture you need to pay. Kind of like buying your way into a celib party or something. Apple are apples and Steve is steve… you have to charge those rates for his 365 turtle necks he needs each year.
Soapbox put away.
