This is not a rant about a website, but more of a web rendering issue that has plagued many of us without sometimes even realizing it.

I am talking about FOUC. Thanks to a cohort, I have been led to see the light of FOUC. What is FOUC you say? It is Flash of Unstyled Content in all its nastiness. The good folks at BlueRobot have done an exceptional write up on the quirk, why, how and sadly enough the lack of fixes.

It basically resolves around our friend IE and @import of your css files. The thing that really is annoying about this quirk is that depending upon machine, IE settings, network, caching and probably another 101 things it will not happen or will be less dramatic. Then other times, wow nasty!

As with most nasty things, education is first and make sure you know if your website is FOUCed.
