The Apache Wicket team is proud to announce the availability of the first maintenance release: Apache Wicket 1.3.1.

A lot of bugs have been squashed and improvements implemented. The most notable improvement is the addition out-of-the-box, transparent clustering support.

1.3 has personally been extremely stable and a ton of features that if you are still using 1.2 you should bite the bullet and jump.

The Apache Wicket team is starting off 2008 with a bang.  They just officially released version 1.3!  This is great to see since I have been personally using 1.3 codes since last year and have had very little stability issues related to the framework.  Just goes to show how well Wicket is built/designed and the team behind it!

If you don’t know what Wicket is, then you must not have talked to me, since it is the only Java web framework I will talk about anymore!

Be come a Wicket fanatic and see how Java web development should have been done for years.

Great work Wicket team… I look forward to what 1.4 brings and the migration to Java 5 and generics…. Yes!

The Wicket team has officially released 1.3 RC2. Things are really shaping up and it sounds like RC3 should be final hopefully.

With the exception of the example “look” update, the API is frozen and stability is exception. I would expect final release coming by the end of the year (purely my guess).

The Wicket team has officially released 1.3 RC1.  I personally have been 1.3 beta / source tree for months and have to say that it has been stable even during this time of finding and fixing bugs.

This release is the first in a series of release candidates until we feel confident to finalize Wicket 1.3. This is called a release candidate because we strive for API freeze. This means only bug fixes will be done on the 1.3 release from now on.

The API freeze should help speed along the final release so they can start working towards 1.4 and some new functionality that has been on hold to get 1.3 out the door.

Mozilla has released Prisim last week (previously known as WebRunner).

So what is Prisim?

“…a simple XULRunner based browser that hosts web applications without the normal web browser user interface.”

Basically it is a dedicated website in a desktop client window that lets the website basically act like a desktop client application.   So far it looks pretty slick for such a early release.

I created a Wicket based search that can be added to your iGoogle page.

Just click below and you are good to go. I picked the mailing lists, blogs and other misc sites that has great Wicket info and code.

Add to Google

Far from perfect, but better than having to check multiple sites.
