Archive for the “society” CategoryHappy New Year and may this year be even better than last year! So the first 10 years of 2000 are gone and we are on to twenty-ten. Exciting! Things I am hoping for or expect to see this year:
Dec 31, 2010 I want to see what if any of these ideas come true during this coming year. Lots of hope and prosperity can be there, just if we don’t mess it up as usual. Right!? And we say humans are the smart ones! I am!
UPDATE: It was pretty great! SPOILERS ALERT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Even though Chapter 12 is pretty bloodless, heck the smartest mans hand barely bleeds when a certain bullet is caught…. It really got changed for what sounds like pansies in Hollywood and personally was sad that they made the Doctor out to be the villain instead of Mr Squid and the “alien invasion”. Plus it was not just NY anymore since we could not handle seeing squid parts all over lower Manhattan since 9/11 the WB believes. There are some very nice graphic fights and lots nicely done blood splatting / gibs work throughout (make sure to lookup). Lots of nudity (on both genders part — wasn’t sure if this movie came out of Hollywood with all the blue male anatomy shown.. heck there were was a full blue man “crew” on stage half way through… I mean Dr Manhattan and his little friend X 3). The details in the movie were incredible, they really did an awesome job. This is one of those movies you could watch like five times and notice some new small details each time. Mars scenes are pretty awesome.. albeit Laurie seems to lose her teleportation sickness half way through. Personally, best character was Rorschach. He stole the show for me. Jackie Earle Haley did Rorschach justice and then some. The one thing that I really missed (besides the ending being kind of whacked for a reader of the original novel) was the whole news stand pieces and the “soul” of the story as seen through the Tales of the Black Freighter comic. No floating corpses keeping the raft a float. Archie is awesome… Warner Brothers will be making a ride out of that somewhere! Am already want to so the Director cut that is going to be re-released in June or July I hear when they release on DVD / Blu-Ray (better, this is a movie to see all the details). IMAX viewing would of even made it MORE than it already was larger than life. One thing I was not quite prepared for was the very clear and graphic depiction of JFK being assassinated in the motorcade by The Comic. There was quite a splatter all over the back of the black presidential limousine. On a last note was the music. I had heard the soundtrack (not instrumental) and wasn’t sure how it was all going to fit in and at every turn the music selected for the scene just seemed to make sense. It was like a well worn jacket that just felt right. Clocking in at 3 hours (2:43 to be exact, but add your cr@p before the movie and what not) I felt it moved along, but I found myself just waiting for the next scene since I knew what was more or less coming. I think some others in the midnight showing with me felt the same (damn geeks) while other couples seem to be more worried about getting out of dodge and doing something else, that late at night! I have sat through an hour and half movies that felt 20 times longer than Watchmen. Well enough for today. I see this being worth another viewing and will be one for my collection when Directors Blu-Ray version is released! Zack just better do it justice with those extra minutes (20+ minutes or something)! “Who’s watching the watchmen”… you should be! Now even the fast food restaurants that I would of never guessed are being out done by cuisine from oversee’s as well. Odd duck, I would of never thought that there were this many. But once you start thinking about it, I seem to be able to find a Chinese restaurant about every 5 miles around where we live! That means that winter weather will be with us for six more weeks, until the middle of March. What I really want to know…
Where the heck is winter this year? I know some poor polar bears that are pretty ticked off about it up north on their one ice cube left to float on. Tags: Ground Hog Day, Missing, Punxsutawney Phil, Winter |
