I would agree up through version 9, but with the latest EAP of version 10, they have made lots of changes to make things faster. Still need a beefy machine, but at least the GUI, Code completion, intentions, etc are much faster in the latest builds.

At the end of the day, I still find I am more productive in IDEA than I could ever dream of being in Eclipse. It has just become way too much bad makeup and hairdo on a pig (metaphor, not really calling Eclipse itself a swine) over there.

I to like this feature. But IntelliJ is just too slow for my machines. Why so much memory need? And SLOW (i have machine with 8GBram with dual processor – machine is good.) it’s a great IDE – that I deleted.
