Formula 1 at Indy Wow, is it possible for Fernando Alonso might actually show his world champ skills this weekend at Indy? Could it happen?

BMW Saubers Robert Kubica (thankfully will make a full recovery, even if he is not in the Indy race this weekend) stand-in, Sebastian Vettel took it to McLaren! Splitting McLarens best times of Fernando and Lewis Hamilton to be in the No. 2 spot during Saturday practice. Only practice, but still. Great job! Amazing for a whopping 19 year old. Defiantly a young young face in F1.

How about the 20 – 22 seconds of full out throttle on the straight stretch? Dang, Indy is not listed as the single F1 circuit for longest full throttle for nothing, with top speeds reaching in the 330kmh range for practice. Wait until Sunday… 19k revs of an F1 engine, the only thing better than good ole muscle car rumble IMO!

This should be a great race on Sunday.

Fernando was screaming on a dirty track… almost breaking track records on just a practice day. Hmm, and I thought Fernando didn’t like Indy. :)

McLarens Fernando AlonsoMcLaren is out in front at the moment, but it is only Friday practice. I would think we will see more from Felipe Massa and Ferrari this weekend since the Ferrari should love the Canadian track a little better than McLaren. Also this will be the first time Lewis Hamilton has driven this track, but he was right up there with Fernando and Felipe in the 3rd slot.

It was just awesome to see Fernando sliding the McLaren around the curves with the fishtails. I can only imagine what it will be like on Sunday.

Can we say it will be a weekend of if you can keep the back of the car out of the walls and BRAKES.

Groundhog In Your Face How about the groundhog running across the track right in front of Ralf Schumacher during the 2nd round of practice coming down the straight stretch. That looked like one scared little critter for sure when he was about an inch from the sidewall! You see him trucking along, accordion up and then smoke it off the track. That was one lucky groundhog. He could of been bits in the radiator or a thump under the right rear tire of Ralfs.
